If you find that owning your dog is costing you a lot of money but you still love your dog so much that you still want to provide him/her with the best you can then building your own dog kennel may be the best thing to do. All dogs can enjoy having a dog kennel; they will love having a place that they know is theirs. Just keep in mind that it isn’t all that hard building a dog kennel.
In most cases building a dog kennel is cheaper then buying a pre-built dog kennel and when building your own dog kennel you can be as creative as you want to be. Although you will still need to purchase the materials for the kennel you can rest assured that it won’t cost as much.

If you do decide that you really want to build your own dog kennel there are really only a couple of things you should really concern yourself with. First you must always consider size, secondly you should consider what type of materials you plan on buying and third you will want to make sure that you raise the kennel at least a few inches off the ground to make sure that when it rains or snows nothing will get accumulated on the floor of the kennel.
Most dog kennels today come in standard shapes and sizes, however, if your dog is very large or very small you may run into several issues this is one advantage to building your own kennel, you know how big it should be.
